What To Pack In Your Evacuation Bag: 15 Things!

What To Pack In Your Evacuation Bag: 15 Things!

15 Things to Keep Ready

1. Always have water stored — Have portable drinking water ready. It is wisdom to always have one gallon per person per day stored and ready for a three-day evacuation supply.

2. Canned & non-perishable food — Choose foods that don't require refrigeration and are easy to prepare. Pack a manual can opener.

3. Solar or hand-crank lamp — A rechargeable solar lamp or hand-crank light can be extremely useful when electricity is unavailable. IFRC guidance specifically includes solar/hand-crank lighting.

4. Flashlight + extra batteries — Don't rely on your phone flashlight. Keep a dedicated flashlight in your bag.

5. Radio — A battery-powered or hand-crank radio can keep you informed if internet and cellular service become unreliable.

6. Power bank + charging cables — Keep a backup way to charge your phone and other essential devices.

7. First-aid kit — Include basic wound-care supplies and anything your household specifically needs.

8. Prescription medications — Keep essential medicines and medical information together and ready to grab.

9. Important documents — Keep copies of identification, passports, insurance information, medical information, property documents, and emergency contacts in a waterproof container.

10. Cash — Keep some emergency cash available in case ATMs or electronic payment systems aren't working.

11. Change of clothing — Pack underwear, socks, weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes, and rain protection.

12. Hygiene supplies — Soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, sanitizer, and other personal necessities.

13. Emergency blanket — Lightweight thermal blankets can provide warmth without taking much space.

14. Multi-purpose tool + whistle — A basic multi-purpose tool can help with many small tasks, while a whistle can help signal for assistance.

15. Physical Bible — This one goes beyond conventional emergency-preparedness lists. If you are preparing for difficult times as a Christian, don't only prepare your body and household. Prepare your spirit. Keep a physical Bible with your emergency supplies, especially if you depend heavily on digital Scripture.

Don't Just Own It—Know How to Use It

An evacuation bag is only useful if you can actually carry it and understand what's inside.

Keep it somewhere accessible.

Check your food and water periodically.

Replace expired medications.

Test your batteries and lights.

Update your documents.

Make sure every member of your household knows where the bag is.

And most importantly, have a plan for where you are going.

The Red Cross recommends thinking ahead about where you will go, how you will get there, and where you will stay.

End-Time Wisdom isn't about living in fear of tomorrow.

It's about refusing to be caught completely unprepared.

Pray. Prepare. Practice. Stay watchful.

And if the day comes when you have to leave quickly, don't spend your first hour asking, “What do I take?”

Have it ready before you need it.
